Film Review_Chronicle (2012)
CHRONICLE
One of the best sci films in the
past few years (and its not even superhero-related). Directed by
Joshua Trank, the film tells the story of three friends finding
telekinetic powers from an undetermined source and centers on how their
powers transform their normal lives leading to a somewhat tragic end.
The film is told in the so-called ‘found footage’ style (similar to
Cloverfield’ and Quarantine) and
although laden with not-so-expensive special effects, the CGIs interwove
with the plot excellently; and better yet, unlike with Green Lantern,
Thor or Ironman in which the CGIs overshadowed the plot, Chronicle
offers a relatable, interesting and endearing story altogether.
I
wasn’t able to watch this in the theatres but after seeing several
snippets from the web, I finally got the dvd and it certainly didn’t
disappoint. Better that Super 8 (produced by Steven Spielberg), this
film is worthy of your DVD / Bluray collection.
My Rating : A-
Film Review_Silent House_Cabin (2012)
The Silent House.
Yes, there was a house and
yes, there was a lot of silence inside the house but NO, it wasn't creepy at all.
The
plot seemed interesting enough and as we hold our breath for a really
creepy or even scary ending, lets say like ‘The Strangers’ or ‘identity’
, it turns out to be a big dud. As uninteresting as the lead actress’
acting, the deserted Silent House and its twist-the-twist ender bring
bore to another level.
My Rating : B
Cabin in the
Woods
Similarly with the ‘Cabin in the
Woods (written by Joss Whedon of the Avengers), ‘Cabin’ failed miserably
combing the horror of The Midnight Meat Train and the peculiarity of
13 Ghosts and appeal of “The Truman Show’. Another twist-the-twist
ender, one is left wondering why there was even an attempt to make the
plot plausible.
My Rating : B
The two films were much-awaited horror /
thriller genre films this year and sadly the waiting turned sour.
Im Alive!!!
Im Alive!!!
The missing two years can be credited to, well obviously, with the prevalence of and 'addiction' to Facebook and it is a nice surprise that my blogspot account is still active kaya might as well use it again :)
