ZOMBIELAND (Film Review)
One Liner Review : so-so scare, so-so humor, so, so what? This film is as dull as the 2 main protagonists.
...considering the film raked in millions in the US, it is a wonder how viewers returned to watch this somewhat (un)interesting film on the world being overtaken (or populated) by zombies. Though i have to say that the first 20 minutes of the film was indeed interesting and you would hope that this would continue for the rest of the film but later on you seem to realize that you were taken for a ride (that you want to step off!!)..it appears that the creativity of the writers and producers were pretty much dumped in the first few sequences (the "rule #'s") afterwhich the film will lead you nowhere..then at the last 20 minutes of the film where it actually picked up (the carnival scene) again and sayang kasi ending na pala!!! I swear, you can just watch the first 2o minutes of the film, leave the theater and stroll in the mall with your bf/gf/spouse/lover and return 20 minutes before the ending and you wouldn't have missed much!!
You feel empty after watching this film unlike the producers' bank accounts as this film was a huge unexpected commercial success in the US but honestly walang impact itong film na to!! Nuod na lang kau ng Panday and nakatulong pa kau sa Filipino film industry. :)
By the way, the film title shoudlnt have been Zombieland but "Since-the-world-is-overrun-by-zombies, i-might-as-well-stick-it-out-with-this-girl-as-im-horny-as-hell!!" Kasi un ang na pick up kong vibe from the characters. Hehehe
Note: Definitely a better zombie horror-comedy film is "Shawn of the Dead" (a British film). Not really a parody of the "Dawn of the Dead" but of the same genre on zombies...watch it!! It got higher rotten tomato ratings than Zombieland and its definitely much funnier (by miles!!!)
