Midas Should Go

http://ph.news.yahoo.com/malaca-ang-denies-seeking-midas-ouster-140702922.html "MalacaƱang Denies Seeking Midas Ouster"

http://rp3.abs-cbnnews.com/nation/06/07/12/lacierda-we-have-problems-midas-marquez   Lacierda: We have problems with Midas Marquez

Honestly, I think Midas should go, again because of probity.

He unabashedly and unashamedly supported Corona for years up until the impeachment trial.  However in an interview with ABS, he suddenly said that his loyalty goes for the institution and not for Corona (this was in view of his recent replacement as PIO Head of the SC).

His loyalty to Corona seems to go beyond Corona's competence and calmness, but also as to Coronas undying desire to stay in his position.  >>

Film Review_Chronicle (2012)

CHRONICLE

One of the best sci films in the past few years (and its not even superhero-related). Directed by Joshua Trank, the film tells the story of three friends finding telekinetic powers from an undetermined source and centers on how their powers transform their normal lives leading to a somewhat tragic end.

The film is told in the so-called ‘found footage’ style (similar to Cloverfield’ and Quarantine) and although laden with not-so-expensive special effects, the CGIs interwove with the plot excellently; and better yet, unlike with Green Lantern, Thor or Ironman in which the CGIs overshadowed the plot, Chronicle offers a relatable, interesting and endearing story altogether.

I wasn’t able to watch this in the theatres but after seeing several snippets from the web, I finally got the dvd and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Better that Super 8 (produced by Steven Spielberg), this film is worthy of your DVD / Bluray collection.

My Rating : A-

Film Review_Silent House_Cabin (2012)

The Silent House.

Yes, there was a house and yes, there was a lot of silence inside the house but NO, it wasn't creepy at all.

The plot seemed interesting enough and as we hold our breath for a really creepy or even scary ending, lets say like ‘The Strangers’ or ‘identity’ , it turns out to be a big dud. As uninteresting as the lead actress’ acting, the deserted Silent House and its twist-the-twist ender bring bore to another level.

My Rating : B

______________________________

Cabin in the Woods

Similarly with the ‘Cabin in the Woods (written by Joss Whedon of the Avengers), ‘Cabin’ failed miserably combing the horror of The Midnight Meat Train and the peculiarity of 13 Ghosts and appeal of “The Truman Show’. Another twist-the-twist ender, one is left wondering why there was even an attempt to make the plot plausible.
My Rating : B

The two films were much-awaited horror / thriller genre films this year and sadly the waiting turned sour.

Im Alive!!!

Im Alive!!!

The missing two years can be credited to, well obviously, with the prevalence of and 'addiction' to Facebook and it is a nice surprise that my blogspot account is still active kaya might as well use it again  :)

OSCARS 2010 update (part I)

OSCARS update Part I

Doogie Howser (JP Harris) is the opening act and though he also sang live (like with Hugh last year), Hugh J. was better and of course had longer exposure. Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin were the hosts and their throw of lines at the opening spiel were outright awkward (and seem unrehearsed) but still was funny.. nice outtakes during the spiel were those of Hellen Mirren, M. Streep. S. Bullock and G. Clooney.

Best Supporting Actor goes to Christoph Waltz for Inglorious Bastards

nice segment ("live" interviews") on the nominees for best animated picture..and Up! is the winner!! 1 for 1 on my Oscars predictions... heheheh and nice segment for John Hughs, his films were iconic during the 80's and are considered rleevant pa din by film critics as ive collected / downloaded Sixteen Candles, Breakfast Club, Ferris B Day Off, etc.

The Grammy Awards Goes Gaga...

The Grammy Goes Gaga goes one blog headline on the presence of Lady Gaga in the last Grammy Awards. Doning obvious costumes (not avant garde gowns) is what we expected of her and she delivers but honestly nakakasawa na...from her videos and in real life, the costumy Lady Gaga is the typical and much cliche - what you see is what you get..

Sure the talent is there, but who does not? Taylor can play the guitar exquisitely, Norah and Alicia play the piano beautifully and Beyonce, janet and Madonna has all the grooves..but what can Lady Gaga offer new? the costumes? duh and dull!!!

Shed better offer something new otherwise her rocketing to superstardom would go pfft in time of her sophomore album...
